From Thinking to Making
Pendulum Industrial Works was never part of the original business plan. It was the inevitable next step.
Since founding Pendulum in 2007, we have believed that architecture is not simply the creation of buildings. It is the disciplined pursuit of ideas that improve how people experience the world around them. Every project begins with what we call a Small Big Idea, a thoughtful observation, a question worth asking, or a problem waiting to be solved. Those ideas have shaped award-winning ballparks, civic spaces, museums, workplaces, and homes across the country.
Over time, however, we recognized a fundamental truth. The most meaningful ideas could not always be validated on a computer screen or communicated through construction documents alone. They needed to be held, tested, fabricated, assembled, challenged, and refined.
That realization gave rise to Pendulum Industrial Works.
More than a fabrication shop, Industrial Works is the physical extension of Pendulum’s design philosophy. It is where architecture meets craftsmanship, where digital precision meets human ingenuity, and where ideas move beyond theory into reality. Here, architects work alongside makers, designers alongside fabricators, using advanced manufacturing technologies and traditional craft to prototype, build, and learn.
The result is a continuous cycle of discovery. Every prototype informs a better design. Every fabrication teaches a new lesson. Every finished piece becomes the beginning of the next Small Big Idea.
