Kansas City, Missouri. Open since late 2016 in the Crossroads Arts District.
Keith and Julie Thompson, long time Kansas City brew masters, brought Pendulum a site at 19th and Oak with an existing building of roughly 2,500 square feet. That alone could not carry the brewhouse, kitchen, dining room and support space the project needed.
Keith proposed adding a pre manufactured steel building to the existing structure. The collaborative design put the brewhouse equipment and all beer related program into the addition, which let the original building do what it was already good at. Shipping containers were specified for storage, brewing operations and as the perimeter of the outdoor dining area, so one move bought three functions.
Ted Habiger of Room 39 joined on food and beverage and got the custom wood fired grill at the center of the kitchen and a chef's counter for a personal dining experience. Brewery Emperial has been a consistent top local destination since it opened.
