Cary, North Carolina. Programming and conceptual design for the USA Baseball National Training Complex.
The complex opened in 2007 and hosts events for USA Baseball and for collegiate and international teams. By 2014 the question was what it needed next, and what the Town of Cary and USA Baseball Operations could share rather than duplicate.
Pendulum was hired to identify those needs and put options in front of stakeholders, delivering site plans, building plans, interior and exterior views, graphics and models. The program summary covered administrative, retail, multipurpose, storage, clubhouse, performance training, event and media space, plus exterior improvements to the complex.
Shared space between two owners is the cheapest square footage either of them will ever build. Options were priced against exactly what the Town of Cary and USA Baseball could hold in common rather than duplicate.
