The site sits at the river edge beside a substantial proposed mixed use development aimed at revitalizing the edge of downtown Columbia, and the design was driven by a desire to blend into the wooded elements surrounding it.
Founders Park cost more than $35 million and holds 8,242, with roughly 6,400 fixed seats, five suites and two club levels. The concourse runs completely around the stadium. The field is sand based to USGA specification with 419 Bermuda turf, 325 down the lines and 390 to center. Team amenities include a 3,900 square foot weight room and four indoor batting tunnels. Transparency from outside the secure line lets the bowl read as simple despite the complexity inside it.
Its 8,242 seats anchor the parcels around it as much as they house the program. Walls in the outfield vary from 8 to 10 feet, and the batter's eye is 80 feet wide.
